Big Bear Ride - 2013

Hey riders, it's Guido the dumb biker dude, with our Big Bear ride report.

Wow, what a day!  Now I can't count past ten, but I hear tell that we had about 25 bikes and over thirty people.  We had a group of riders from the Christian Motorcycle Association (CMA), The Rock Church, new riders, new bikes and a cast of characters larger than a Cecil B. DeMille movie!  ( Well, almost)

We left our staging area at around 8:30 am as one group.  We were blessed, as we did not encounter heavy traffic and breezed through the traffic lights along Winchester Road.  Just before we hit the City of Beaumont, we stopped at an AM PM for gas and a quick break.

Once on the road, we proceeded through Oak Glen, arriving at the base of the mountain, where we stopped at a ranger station for another quick break.  From there, due to the number of bikes in our group, we split into two groups.  We were back on the road in no time and had a beautiful ride to Big Bear!

Once in Big Bear, both groups took a lap around the lake, before meeting again at the Shell station on Big Bear Blvd.  the weather was awesome!  A perfect day for riding a motorcycle!  By then, everyone was starving and starting to chew on their leather, so Pastor Dave gave our hosts a heads up and we all took off for Sam and Debbie's cabin for some chow.

Once we arrived, we were greeted by our hosts and Mike (road kill ) Andrews and his wife Traci, who assisted Sam and Debbie with set up.  From there, everyone participated in the annual, "how are we gonna fit all the bikes in there?" event and posed for a couple of pictures taken by Pastor Sam and our own Frank (Olin Mills) Mendez.

Not being able to contain the wild biker animals any further, everyone hit the chow line.  The food and fellowship was amazing!   Everyone received a "bear ride pin" as a momento from our ride.  We were so blessed to have so many great people ride with us.  God is truly amazing!

After lunch, some of our riders had to head for home, so when it was time to leave, our group was much smaller.  Everyone arrived home safely, which is always a fitting end to a great day of riding.  For you new riders,  tomorrow you'll probably feel like you've been on a horse for 30 days straight, but don't worry, the more you ride the better you'll feel!

A special thanks to our hosts, Sam and Debbie, for allowing us into their home and for cooking all that amazing food, Mike and Traci Andrews for assisting our hosts, Dave and Cindy, for stepping up and filling in as a road guards and you our riders, who our reason for doing what we do!  God bless you all, and we'll see you next month!
