March 2008 Get Acquainted Breakfast

March 29 we got up early (well, some of us) and headed over to the church to get ready for our first gathering of the newly formed CCV Motorcycle Fellowship. Here's the early birds- That's Mike and Traci Andrews with their Heritage, Pastor Dave and MaryAnne Hommel with their Road King Police Special and Oscar and Sonia Rodriguez with their Big Dog Chopper. I know, but we let him ride with us because he's really cool. And we dig his wife.

The grill master got busy and made us all a heart stopping/hearty breakfast.

After breakfast, Dave, Mike and Oscar welcomed everyone and laid out the vision for the fellowship. We ride the third Saturday of every month, and hope to connect with a whole new group within our church. We're a big enough church that at Easter when we have one huge service at a park, we all meet people that we think are new, only to find out they've been here longer than us!
Mike went over the Group Riders Manual, so we know what we're doing. We're blessed to have some guys that have done a lot of large group rides, and Mike gave us some great instruction for placement in the group, dealing with traffic lights, and above all, nobody gets left behind!
Then we had some time for Q & A, and what Mike didn't know, he just made up. Works for us.

Dave's first long ride with Mike after he got the Road King was a divine appointment in the making. Out by Warner Springs, Dave broke down. When Mikes heart started again, they called Hog Roadside Assistance to come get the bike. Worried about what might show up to haul him home, imagine his relief when he saw......
How cool is that! Fernando, who owns San Diego Motorcycle Towing came up for the morning to show off his awesome rig. He came and got Dave that day at Warner Springs, and they had a rich time of fellowship in the Lord on the long ride home. Fernando showed off how his rig works, and he has three trucks available. Here's another view...Fernando's in our links, so keep his info handy. He hung out with us all morning and we hope he makes it for some of our rides. On a bike, we dig him but we hope we don't need his rig.

We had a great first meeting, it was great to meet some new people in our church body. We have some guys who are praying to see if it's the Lord's will that they get a bike again and join us, and a couple who are renting bikes from a local dealer. We don't care what you ride just as long as you ride safe and keep up, so contact Pastor Dave if you need some info. Hope to see you on the road!
