Third Saturday in June

Yes, I know it was just the third Saturday in July. Oscar has the pictures from that ride, since most of the girls were at the One Day Conference at Calvary Vista.

Our destination was Lake Skinner for food and fellowship, so bright and early the guys started loading the church truck with all the grub and grill.
Ernie blessed us by driving the truck up to the lake early and staking out our place.
Meanwhile, across the street, bikes were rolling in. We had a couple people join us for the first time, one was Chuck on his BMW.

Mike went over the route and pre-ride instructions and by this time it was already getting warm outside.
Jim's friends from Senior Center, Mary and her daughter Mindy joined us for the ride.

Lined up and ready to go!
Hitting the road.
Turning off 395 onto Old Castle Road.
Cruisin' toward Valley Center.

If you look in Dave's mirror, you'll see how I spent most of this trip when I wasn't drinking water.
This was an awesome view of the valley just past the chicken farm Mike made us ride past.
We stopped for a quick break in Temecula before heading out to Sage Road. It was probably only about 90 degrees by this time-right around 11:00 a.m.
Mary's bike.

Pulling up to the gate at Lake Skinner, ready for some lunch!
Sonia and the kids had driven up and were enjoying the shade with Ernie when we pulled in.
Ah, the grill master at work while Frank keeps a close eye on the Brats, or Brauts, depending on what package you buy.

The rest of us quickly found chairs and shade as the real heat of the day started.

Ernie and the kids kept cool with a water fight!

Mike out did himself with lunch. For every burger or brat I think we consumed two bottles of water and several gallons of ice tea.

Traci is actually sleeping in this picture, no wonder she looks so serene!
Chillin' in the 107 degree heat.
Awwwwww.......

The ride home was through wine country. "I am the vine, you are the branches" John 15:5
When we got back to the church the Bermoy brothers were just arriving to reprise their roles in the play at the church that night. We hope they can come down from Orange County and join us for our next ride!
Despite the unseasonably hot weather we had a great ride, a great meal and some great fellowship. This was the ride that inspired us to map an alternative coastal ride for unexpected heat waves! Special thanks to Ernie for driving the truck up and back, we loved having him join us. Check back for pics from the July ride, and info on the upcoming rides!
