Big Bear-Part One

This ride was so big it needs two posts! After lots of planning, praying and two pre-rides, the big day was here-Big Bear! The morning was foggy, but we were caffinated and ready to roll. Karen broke out the camera first, here's our dueling camera shot:
This is Nicole with Traci, she kept Karen company, shot a million pictures, and made some killer brownies.
Pre-ride huddle.
Steve Swapp joined us on the bike of his buddy, whose doing another tour overseas. Here he is with Chuck and Frank.
Mike, Mary, and Tony.
Mary was able to join us again, here with Jim.
Micah and Brandon Bermoy finally hooked up with us! If only Wayne played guitar, that would be a band right there.
Bunch of chicks. Only one does not have "Mary" in her name.
Mike rides with that cup in his hand. Okay, not really.
Now it's time for....BIKE OF THE MONTH! This time the Savenye's were rockin' a Road Glide.
You pick the caption.
Notice the fog.
Now, notice the REAL fog.

We had to pull over on Gopher Canyon because the lead bike couldn't tell if the whole group made the turn from Vista Way. After a head count, we were under way again.
By the bottom of the hill, sun!

The one fog bank in San Diego County we did NOT drive through.
Jim and Chuck with his son.
Oscar (under wraps) with his buddy Sean, who will forgive me if I chose the wrong version of his name.
Bermoy's.

Jim, Mike and Mary and a little of Karen, too.

First stop, Starbucks in Hemet, home to more cows than people.

Hey look, it's Dave!

Guess who?
What's that Dave? Quit fooling around taking pictures and get on the bike?

There are many cows in Hemet, and many, many stop lights
Here is one of the many stop lights where we lost half the group. Over and over again.
Scenic Hemet.

After scenic Hemet, we ascended to scenic Beaumont.
And then, to scenic Cherry Valley.
The feed store was jammin'.

Then it got really scenic. No foolin, we had a lovely drive through Oak Creek, which is like Julian at a lower altitude and no Dudley's.

If you scroll through the next pictures really fast and make bike noises, you can almost fool yourself into thinking you are watching video.

After cruising through Yuciapa, we took a brief break at the ranger station on Highway 38 to split the group.

Group one leaves for the ride up the mountain.

Group two heads out-we're working up an appetite by now, and thinking about lunch. The weather was warming up, so far the ride has been great. In part two, we are greeted by Sam and Debbie, as well as a sumptious repast fit for, well, a bunch of hungry bikers!
