Big Bear Pt. 2

Remember back to September? Our saga continues......

Group one heads out on Highway 38, see that big mountain in the distance? That's where we're going.

Mike didn't miss the turn, and we head up the mountain!
Frank and the gang follow......
When you look out over the valley, you long for a camera that can catch what your eye can see from the back of a motorcycle going 50mph. I don't have that camera so you will have to use your imagination. It was a spectacular day.

How much farther?
Despite the elevation and the fact it was mid September, it was barely chill enough to make you think it was fall.
The heavens declare the glory of God- Psalm 19:1

Our group never saw much traffic, we almost had the road to ourselves.

Right now our ears were popping.

Hey look! We're here!
The guys picked just about the last gas station you could find in Big Bear so we had an excuse to drive along the lake. It was worth it.

Which summer house did you pick?

Meanwhile, at the other end of the mountain, group two heads out. Or, as we found out later, most of group two.

We all met up at the gas station, where Wayne and Chuck headed home early. I ate their share of amazing Nicolle brownies.

Chase car girls!

Back on the road, we headed back through Big Bear to Sam and Debbie's place, ready to eat!

Our lovely hostess greets us, camera in hand!
What WILL the neighbors think? Chaos briefly ensued as we squeezed a dozen bikes into Sam's driveway.
Sam and Debbie's back yard.

Traci, Dave, Tony and Mike check out the view.
Ready to eat, some of us checked out the food-meatballs, chicken wings, veggies, turkey sandwiches and did I mention brownies? But wait-only part of group two came up the hill and met us at the gas station. We can't eat until the rest of the group gets here. What's taking so long? Oh, here they come!Whose in charge?
Oscar. Hurry up dude, park that puppy, er, Dog!
Breaking bread. Those are not drumsticks, Micah.
Not the greatest shot, a little dark but here is a couple of Sam's lovely girls.
Enjoying the view.
After lunch and hanging around, we went outside for a group picture, which took only slightly less time to organize than driving up the mountain.

Stop checking out the bike of the month and line up!
Frank and a friend.
I wasn't lining up either, I was busy trying to make a convert out of Debbie-looks pretty good!

Come on Sam, you know you want to ride again!
Finally, the group shot. After more brownies, okay, maybe that was just me, but much thanks to Sam and Debbie from everybody, it's back on the bikes, Mike is headin' out!

It was 3:00 pm or so when we left, even riding home in the shade was still perfect weather.

Almost at the bottom, one last look at the pines.
I may have mentioned that Hemet has more cows than people in the last post. They also keep buffalo in their back yards next to the main street in town. Hemet is an interesting place.
After Hemet we hit the freeway, jammin' toward home.
Me and Dave, gee, I love the freeway.
Tony cruisin'.

Frank's rad Harley.Right after this shot, Mary left us to head home out Highway 76-always fun to have her join us!
Mike and Traci-Traci loves the freeway, too.
Headin' up Gopher Canyon Road, into the sunset. Thus ends our first annual Big Bear Ride. We're still talking about how fun it was, and can't wait for next September to invade, I mean visit Sam and Debbie again. Thanks again for all your hospitality, good eats and great fellowship-next year Sam and Debbie RIDE!
