A Christmas Story

Hey Riders! It's Guido again with a Christmas story I think you will enjoy. Last Saturday our motorcycle fellowship went on our annual charity ride to support the Angel Tree ministry and to assist a young Marine father and his son. (See last posted article). Well, our mission was a huge success, thanks to the support of our riders and the fellowship at Calvary Chapel Vista. Some rode and some donated gifts and food, but ALL were blessed! But what happened on that particular day was even more amazing!

When the CCVMF rolled up to the first residence to deliver gifts, it seems that the roar of motorcycles on that small street woke up one of the residents, as it was still pretty early in the morning. I don't believe he was none too happy and he ventured outside to see what the commotion was all about. When he noticed our patch, he started to talk with one of our leadership dudes. By the time he made his way down the line and talked with Pastor Dave, the dude was "completely broken" and began to tell his tale.

It seems he was a believer and walked away from the Lord awhile back. He was living in Texas with his family. He told Pastor Dave that his home had burnt to the ground in Texas, so they came out to California. He was without a job and his marriage was on the rocks. On top of that, he had four boys to support.

Pastor Dave invited him and his family to church on Sunday the following day. In the meantime, Pastor Dave was able to secure some food, and a Christmas tree with some lights. Guess what? They showed up to church! Since the release of this latest article, others have stepped up and asked if they can get some gifts for the boys. Is that amazing or what? There we were, doing what God had called us to do and it's as if he said: "Go ahead and do your thing, but I've got another job for you". This was a "total God thing" and had I not seen this happen time and again in other ministry opportunities, I would have been blown away and knocked off my Harley!

What is Christmas all about? Well first and foremost, it's about the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Secondly, It's about a man from Texas with a family, who walked away from Jesus and was finally broken to the point to where he needed to come home. (Remember the story of the prodigal son)? And ya know what? There are thousands of stories just like this one happening all over the world as you read this article. Gives me goose bumps just thinking about the power of God during this Christmas season! And last but not least, it's about opening your heart in sweet surrender to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and giving! Wow what a Christmas present!

Hey look, if you've walked away from the Lord or your faith is not what it used to be, I just want to tell you that Jesus loves you and it's ok to come home. It doesn't matter what you've done or how "unworthy" you think you are, maybe now is the time to "receive" the best Christmas gift you'll ever get. Maybe now is the time to embrace our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. "For unto us a child is born". "Peace on earth and good will toward men". And oh yes.........bikers too! May God richly bless you during this Christmas Season!
