Tribute To A Courageous Man

Hey riders, it's Guido the Dumb Biker Dude.  It's with great sadness that I announce the passing of Adam Mendez, Son of Frank and Kathy Mendez. "Big Frank" as he is affectionately known by his brothers in the motorcycle fellowship, is on the leadership team.

Adam passed away and went to be with our Lord last Friday Evening, at the age of 31, with family and friends in attendance. His death was attributed to complications arising from Congestive Heart Failure.

While we mourn the loss of a Son, Grandson, Brother, Nephew, Cousin and friend, we also "celebrate" the life of a courageous young man. Adam was full of life and a fighter up until the very end. And while my wife Kathy and I had the privilege of visiting him in the hospital from time to time, I must say that I received more from this young man than I gave. What I mean by that is that throughout his struggles with his health, Adam taught me a lot about the love of God, courage, compassion, patience and putting others ahead of "self". I witnessed the ultimate love of a Father and Mother towards their son.

Ya see, Adam gave me these gifts while he was alive and fighting; but not just to me, but to all of us who knew him and his parents. Now the only question that remains is: what will we do with them?

Everyone will mourn and grieve in their own way and over time, we will all heal. But it is up to each one of us to decide if we will be left with a "hole" in our hearts by his passing, or made "whole" by the courage he displayed while living and fighting up to the time the Lord called him home.

By the death of one man, Jesus Christ, we were made whole. Salvation came to mankind. To this day, it remains the single most important "gift" that God has given a struggling world, that seems to be getting worse with each passing day. All you have to do is "accept" the gift and your life will be changed forever.

Adam accepted the gift, and in so doing, was able to give it to others, especially as he ended his journey on this earth and went home to be with the Lord. What will you do with this gift? What would Adam want you to do with it? Is there someone you need to forgive? Is there something in your life that you need to let go of? Is there a "hole" in your heart that needs to be made "whole".

Only you can decide where you go from here. Adam is with our Lord now. He has received his "glorified" body and there is no longer any pain or suffering. He is home with his brother Aaron and we will all have an opportunity to see him again. In the meantime, we are stuck here. It's your life, what will you do with it? I intend to try and follow in the footsteps of a courageous young man; Adam Mendez. We love you Adam!
