Hey riders! It's Guido with another ride update. This was our first annual "Dave Sandstoe's Ride For Pie". Dave is one of our road guards and loves pie, so seven bikes and eleven riders took off from Vista and headed to the Julian Pie Company in Santa Ysabel. The amazing thing was that Dave and his wife Cindee had just retuned from a 2600 mile weeklong motorcycle trip that same afternoon. They went home, cast off some luggage and got back on the bike for the ride. Now that's the definition of a "biker"!
When asked why they decided to go on the ride after such a grueling trip, Dave simply said: "Well, if your gonna name a ride after me, I probably should go". And go he did. Not only that, but when we arrived at our destination, Dave bought pie for everyone! The group was so blessed that I almost detected a move by the group to grant "sainthood" right then and there! I can see it now..........St. Sandstoe, the patron saint of pie eaters!
Needless to say, there was a lot of laughter and some great fellowship. The ride itself was a little on the warm side, but well worth the "pie" at the end of the ride. After lounging around like a bunch of lizards sleeping on a hot rock, we all mounted up and headed for home. Everyone made it home safe and sound, which is our first priority on every ride we go on.
Well, that's your latest ride update. In two weeks we will be headed to Big Bear for our most popular and well attended ride of the year. We hope to see you there! Until then, God bless you all and ride safe!
Guido
